Damien admitted the signature was his.
He had signed a stack of documents Victor presented after Sophia's birth.

Maya traced the money.

Not forgiveness.

Then Adrian Cross changed tactics.
He sent Elena emails showing Damien knew that acknowledging Sophia would protect the trust from reverting to the family voting pool.
One email read:
If I establish paternity now, the trust leaves the family pool permanently.
Another:
This may be the only leverage I have left against Adrian.
Elena confronted Damien.
"Did you know acknowledging her would affect the trust?"
"Yes."
"Before you filed?"
"Yes."
"So Adrian is right."
"Partly."
"Did you come because you missed her or because the timing became useful?"
Damien went silent.
Too long.
"Both."
Elena stood.
"Get out."
He did.
No argument.
The next therapy visit was canceled.
Sophia asked why.
"Adults are working out something complicated."
Then drew three people on one page.
Mommy.
Sophia.
Damien.
Not holding hands.

"Mixed motives don't make every action fake."
"I know."
"Do you?"
"No."
