Thomas Kane was found in a motel near O’Hare.
He had one burner phone.
$14,000 in cash.
And a hospital floor map.
He denied everything.
Then police recovered deleted messages.

Security rotates 0245.
Thomas:
Understood.
Gabriel read the transcript twice.
“Who is S?”
Aaron answered:
“We’re working on it.”
Vincent looked sick.
“My brother sold access.”
“Maybe.”
“He did.”
Aaron looked at him.
“Don’t make my job easier by jumping past proof.”
Thomas eventually admitted he sold security timing and credential information.
To whom?
A middleman named Seth Vance.
He claimed he did not know Daniel was the target.
He said he thought the information was for a private investigator hired in a custody dispute.
That sounded convenient.
Then bank records showed Thomas received three payments totaling $42,000 from Vance Logistics.
A shell company.
Who controlled Vance Logistics?
Carlo Moretti’s accountant.
The circle closed.
But not completely.
Carlo still had an alibi.
Restaurant cameras showed him at the club from midnight to 3:30 a.m.
If he ordered the attack, he did it remotely.
Possible.
Not proven.
Then Elena remembered something.
The maintenance man’s voice.
She had heard it before.
Not in person.
On television.
At a charity gala streamed online.
A man introducing Gabriel’s family foundation.
She told Aaron.
He pulled the video.
Elena pointed.
“That one.”
The man on screen:
Michael Trent.
Executive director of the Moretti Family Foundation.
