THE NOTES STOLEN FROM JULIAN’S PHONE

Clara denied copying the therapy notes.

Julian believed her.

The board might not.

The notes were real.

Three years earlier, after his father’s death, Julian had attended private counseling. He discussed guilt, exhaustion, and fear that his family loved the company more than him.

The report twisted those reflections into incapacity.

It described Clara as a “dominant attachment figure.”

A manipulator.

A financial influence.

Someone who isolated him from relatives.

The digital file showed Clara’s login credentials.

Marcus examined the access history.

Her password had been used from inside the mansion at 7:18 p.m.

At that time, Clara was in the kitchen.

Her phone was inside Sienna’s handbag.

Clara remembered surrendering it.

Sienna said wine had spilled near the dining table and offered to keep the device safe.

She used it to access Julian’s cloud archive.

Then placed it back before he arrived.

The family planned every minute.

Julian called Sienna.

She denied stealing the notes.

Then blamed Evelyn.

Evelyn blamed Sienna.

The alliance fractured quickly.

Marcus recovered messages.

Evelyn to Sienna:

Get Clara upset before Julian returns.

Sienna to Evelyn:

She refuses to react.

Evelyn:

Then make her feel trapped.

Another message:

Dr. Vale needs one direct device login to validate the report.

Julian stared.

They had not hired a real psychiatrist to evaluate him.

They hired someone willing to build a diagnosis from stolen material.

Dr. Adrian Vale ran an executive wellness firm used by several corporate boards.

He denied wrongdoing.

Then Marcus found payment records.

One million dollars from Carter Family Holdings to Vale Executive Health.

Approved by Evelyn.

Memo:

SUCCESSION STABILITY.

The board meeting was scheduled for the next morning.

Julian could attend.

But Evelyn controlled four family directors.

Sienna controlled two.

He held three.

Independent members held five.

The stolen report might sway them.

Clara asked:

“What happens if they remove you?”

“Mother controls the company temporarily.”

“And then?”

“She can reverse the house transfer through corporate litigation.”

The mansion had once been used as collateral for Carter Meridian.

Though Julian released it years earlier, Evelyn planned to claim the release was invalid.

Everything connected.

The kitchen.

The house.

The company.

The marriage.

Then Clara remembered a private conversation two weeks earlier.

Evelyn asked whether she and Julian planned children.

Clara said perhaps.

Evelyn replied:

“Then timing matters.”

Why?

The Carter family trust contained a succession clause.

If Julian had a biological child, controlling shares moved into a new branch beyond Evelyn’s authority.

If he died or was removed before a child existed, Evelyn’s branch retained control.

Clara looked at Julian.

“She asked if we were trying.”

He went still.

They had not told anyone.

Clara was pregnant.

Six weeks.

She had planned to tell him that night after the party.

The diamond necklace was his surprise.

The pregnancy was hers.

Julian held her face gently.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

Emotion crossed him.

Joy.

Fear.

Then Marcus entered.

“Someone accessed Mrs. Carter’s medical portal this afternoon.”

Clara froze.

The pregnancy result had been downloaded.

Credential:

Sienna Carter.

The party was not only a corporate trap.

May you like

They already knew a child was coming.

And they needed Clara discredited before the pregnancy became public.
