Chapter 3 - MAYA'S PRESCRIPTION WAS IN MARK'S SUITCASE

The missing prescription bag worried Claire more than the money.
Maya had been discharged with pain medication, iron supplements, antibiotics, and blood-pressure medication.
Some could be replaced easily.
One had strict refill controls.
David replayed the camera footage.
At 7:14 a.m. three days earlier, Mark entered the kitchen.
He picked up the pharmacy bag.
Looked inside.
Then put it inside his suitcase.
Maya whispered:
“I thought your mom moved it.”
David turned toward her.
“What did you take for pain?”
“I had ibuprofen in the bathroom.”
Claire’s face hardened.
“And the antibiotics?”
Maya looked ashamed.
“I missed them.”
“How many doses?”
“Two days.”
Claire called Maya’s obstetrician immediately.
No panic.
No dramatic claims.
The doctor arranged a same-day examination and replacement prescriptions.
Maya’s incision was still healthy.
No serious infection.
The lapse had not caused a medical catastrophe.
But it could have.
That made the act no less serious.
Why did Mark take the bag?
David did not know.
Until he received a message from his cousin Tyler.
Hey, weird question. Did Mark bring meds to Miami? He was trying to sell somebody pills at the hotel last night.
David stared at the phone.
Then called him.
Tyler answered immediately.
“You okay?”
“What did you see?”
“I wasn’t there. Jenna was. Mark was drunk, bragging he had hospital-grade stuff.”
David closed his eyes.
Not hospital-grade.
His wife’s prescription.
He forwarded the footage and Tyler’s message to attorney Mara Chen.
Mara said:
“Preserve everything. Don’t edit clips. Don’t threaten him. Don’t post it.”

“Good. Then you may actually win the facts.”
