Chapter 8 - ADRIAN KNEW MORE THAN HE SAID
Adrian’s role was harder to prove.
He claimed Victor handled everything.
He admitted signing the risk statement but said he believed Margaret was genuinely ill.
That was plausible.
At first.
Then investigators found his messages.
Adrian to Victor:
If she contests the proxy we lose the vote.
Victor:
She won’t be in a position to contest.
Adrian:
For how long?
Victor:
Long enough.
Not proof Adrian ordered confinement.
But proof he knew Margaret’s absence mattered to corporate control.
Then another message surfaced.
Adrian to Owen Grant:
Any sign she contacted Ethan?
Owen:
No.
Adrian:
Good. Keep it that way until after vote.
That changed the case.
Adrian had not merely believed his mother needed care.
He wanted Ethan kept in the dark.
When confronted, Adrian’s lawyer pivoted.
He admitted improper communication.
Denied knowledge of unlawful detention.
Denied forgery.
Denied evidence tampering.
The evidence supported some of that restraint.
Prosecutors did not charge Adrian with every act Victor faced.
They charged what they could prove.
