Chapter 3 - WHAT HAPPENED AT CALEB'S HOUSE
The first body-camera file was recovered from server redundancy.
Not complete.
But enough.
Officer Natalie Price arrived at Caleb and Vanessa’s suburban home at 8:17 a.m.
The footage showed Helen on the front lawn.
Crying.
Unarmed.
Vanessa stood inside the doorway holding an aluminum bat.
Helen said:
“Give me my papers back.”
Vanessa shouted:
“You’re insane.”
Then Caleb stepped between them.
The camera shifted.
Vanessa moved forward.
The bat struck Helen across the shoulder.
Not a full baseball swing.
Still deliberate.
Helen fell.
Officer Price shouted:
“Drop it!”
Vanessa did.
Then something strange happened.
Caleb said:
“Mom, why did you come here?”
Helen screamed:
“Because you called me!”
Caleb’s face changed.
He denied it immediately.
“I didn’t call you.”
Helen looked confused.
The second officer, Marcus Bell, picked up the bat with gloves.
His body camera captured Vanessa whispering to Caleb:
“Call Uncle Owen.”
That sentence became important.
Then Caleb looked toward the officers and said:
“My mother has been taking money from us.”
Helen stared at him.
“What?”
Caleb did not look at her.
Vanessa began crying.
“She attacked me because I confronted her.”
Officer Price said:
“I saw you hit her.”
Vanessa answered:
“After she came at me.”
But the footage did not show Helen attacking first.
It showed Helen stepping toward the doorway.
Hands open.
Angry.

The framing had begun before the officers ever reached the precinct.
