Chapter 8 - THE DELETED BODYCAM WAS NOT THE ONLY VIDEO

Vanessa’s defense attorney attacked the recovered body-camera footage.
Partial file.
Server restoration.
Possible missing context.
Smart.
Then a neighbor came forward.
Mrs. Eleanor Finch lived across the street.
She had a doorbell camera.
It captured the driveway.
Audio too.
Helen arrived alone.
Vanessa opened the door holding the bat before Helen stepped onto the porch.
That destroyed the claim that Vanessa grabbed the bat only after being threatened.
Then another angle appeared.
A delivery driver’s dash camera captured Grant’s personal SUV parked half a block away eighteen minutes before police arrived.
He was there before the assault.
Grant had claimed Vanessa called him afterward.
False.
Why was he nearby?
Phone location records showed his device at the house for forty-one minutes that morning.
Then came the worst evidence.
A recovered message.
Grant to Vanessa:
If she comes, keep it verbal until I’m gone.
Vanessa:
What if she won’t leave?
Grant:
Then make her look unstable.
No explicit instruction to assault.
Important.
But advance planning to discredit Helen.

Rebecca refused to inflate it.
The case was already strong enough.
