No further public statement regarding care.
Separate confidential medical support fund for Ethan.
Jonathan laughed once.
Nina, sitting at the far end of the table, looked uncomfortable.
“What?”
Jonathan tapped the page.
“They’re offering to pay my son’s care.”
Nina said:
“That sounds good.”
“It is.”
He looked at her.
“That’s why it’s dangerous.”
Not because accepting care was wrong.
Because the package bundled necessary support with silence.
Caleb agreed.
“We can negotiate the medical fund separately.”
The hospital refused initially.
Jonathan declined.
Voss’s attorney called the refusal irrational.
Caleb smiled when he heard.
“That’s useful.”
“Why?”
“Because they still think your grief makes you easier to characterize than your evidence.”
Jonathan thought of Laura’s draft.
