Corbin confessed.

Jessica had warned him Bryce planned to take Leo to Vermont that night. Federal agents needed time for a warrant.

Corbin entered the house through a service code and added what he believed was a safe pediatric sedative dose to keep Leo sleeping until morning.

He did not know Bryce had already drugged the juice.

Two men trying to control one child created the fatal amount.

“You helped kill him,” Cynthia said.

“Yes.”

“You watched me bury him.”

“Yes.”

“You let Bryce take all the blame.”

“I was afraid the case would collapse.”

“You were protecting the conviction.”

“And the company,” Corbin admitted.

Even now, the truth arrived after power had calculated its cost.

Corbin turned himself in and pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide, obstruction, and misuse of protected medical systems.

At sentencing, he said:

“I believed power allowed me to intervene without permission. I called it protection. My grandson died because I was more willing to control a situation than trust lawful process.”

Cynthia testified against him.

She did not ask for mercy.

She did not ask for vengeance.

She asked the court to record the whole chain of decisions.

Leo’s trust transferred to Cynthia under a criminal-parent clause.

She used it to create the Leo Hughes Center for Medical Consent and Child Protection.

No family control.

Independent attorneys for children.

Lily became its first protected client.

Months later, Lily asked Cynthia to become her permanent guardian and legal aunt.
