Chapter 15 - MRS. KENNEDY SOLD HER HOUSE
Mrs. Kennedy decided to move closer to her son.
Gracie cried for two days.
Sawyer felt surprisingly emotional.
The gate.
The camera.
The rabbit.
Everything had started there.
At the farewell dinner, Mrs. Kennedy handed Gracie a small box.
Inside was the original memory card.
Not evidence anymore.
The case had concluded.
Copies remained with attorneys.
Gracie stared.
“I don’t want it.”
Mrs. Kennedy nodded.
“Then we destroy it.”
Sawyer stopped.
“Are we allowed?”
Marcus confirmed preservation requirements had ended.
Gracie chose.
They cut the card in half.
Then again.
Not because evidence should disappear.
Because its job was done.
Gracie kept Bunny.
Of course.
The rabbit was patched where the memory card had been hidden.
Sawyer offered to buy a new one.
Gracie looked horrified.
“This is Bunny.”
