Chapter 7 - THE CAMERA ADRIAN FORGOT

The crematory had cameras.
Adrian knew that.
He disabled two.
But not the third.
A maintenance camera above the loading corridor recorded part of the arrival.
Adrian and Vanessa pushed the coffin.
Then Adrian opened the lid.
He checked Evelyn’s pulse.
Vanessa asked:
“She’s breathing?”
Adrian answered:
“Barely. It doesn’t matter.”
The audio was faint.
Usable.
Then Vanessa said:
“What about Margaret?”
Adrian checked her too.
His answer:
“Same.”
That destroyed his future defense.
He knew both women were alive.
The video did not show how they were drugged.
It did not prove every part of the financial scheme.
But it proved knowledge.
Intent.
And the movement toward the chamber.
Mara obtained warrants.
Adrian’s passport pinged at a hotel near Detroit.
He was arrested before sunrise.
No dramatic chase.
No gunfight.
May you like
He was sitting at a hotel bar under his own name.
Men who believe they control the story often underestimate how quickly the story changes once evidence survives.
