Chapter 7 - THE FOUR MEN BECAME A PROBLEM
Calder Protective Services came under scrutiny.
Marcus Vale’s decision to force the Bennetts’ hands toward the stove had been unnecessary.
No one was burned.
Claire stopped him.
Still wrong.
Marcus admitted it.
“I got angry.”
Maya stared.
“That is not your job.”
“I know.”
The company suspended him.
Daniel’s lawyers used the incident aggressively.
Claire had hired men.
Men entered private property.
Men terrorized elderly parents.
Claire had stood there and said:
“Now learn yours.”
Powerful imagery.
Then bodycam helped again.
Claire ordering:
STOP.
Then:
“No one touches the stove.”
And police sirens already approaching.
The private security team had not been hired to punish.
Their written instructions:
protect,
extract,
document,
call law enforcement.
Marcus deviated.
Claire did not defend the deviation.
That decision mattered publicly and legally.
She told investigators:
“He helped save me. He also crossed a line.”
Both true.
Daniel hated that answer.
