Chapter 5 - THE FIRST FAMILY COUNCIL MEETING
The emergency Family Council meeting happened forty-eight hours later.
Not in a mansion.
On video.
Seven voting members.
Naomi chaired.
Robert attended.
Margaret was not a voting member but requested to speak.
Carla had counsel.
Daniel Price explained the limits.
“Suspension does not affect vested trust interests.”
Carla’s attorney nodded.
“It cannot.”
“Correct.”
“It does not remove her from the family legally.”
“Correct.”
“It does not seize assets.”
“Correct.”
Naomi appreciated the precision.
The registry suspension did only what it was designed to do.
Carla could no longer:
represent the family publicly,
use discretionary family-office expense privileges,
serve on council committees,
or access certain optional family resources while the conduct review proceeded.
Margaret erupted anyway.
“You’re humiliating your sister.”
Naomi answered:
“No. I’m separating the family’s name from someone currently under investigation for throwing a weapon toward a child.”
Carla shouted:
“It was not a weapon!”
Naomi looked at her.
“You turned it into one.”
Silence.
Then Robert spoke.
“Can we make this temporary?”
Daniel Price answered:
“It already is pending review.”
Robert nodded.
