Owen recovered enough to testify.
He remembered Ryan’s car.
He remembered Margaret in the passenger seat.
And he remembered something else.
A second vehicle parked farther back.
Victor Sloan’s SUV.
Victor claimed coincidence.
Cell-location records disagreed.
He had been near the gate before the crash and left minutes afterward.
Investigators found messages between Ryan and Victor.
Ryan:
He’s coming tonight.
Victor:
Then stop him before she signs nothing.
Ryan:
How?
Victor:
I don’t want details.
That was not an order to hit Owen.
Prosecutors did not pretend it was.
But it supported knowledge of the confrontation.
More serious were the trust documents.
Victor had prepared amendments using false representations about Ryan’s authority and concealed conflicts because his own firm received fees from Keller Bridge Capital.
He faced fraud and professional misconduct consequences.
Ryan faced charges tied to the collision, leaving the scene, evidence manipulation, financial fraud, and attempting to falsely implicate Emma.
Margaret was not charged for being a passenger.
But she was forced to confront a different kind of responsibility.
For years, she had trained Ryan to believe consequences were negotiable.
At the hospital, she told Owen:
“I’m sorry.”
He replied:
“You didn’t drive the car.”
