Chapter 13 - DANTE'S COMPANY CHANGES

The Moretti review expanded into vendor governance.
Dante disliked how bureaucratic it became.
That was exactly why it mattered.
New rules:
family members could not imply commercial authority they did not hold,
complimentary services above a small threshold required documentation,
vendor complaints bypassed event hosts,
security answered only to named operational leaders,
future-spouse status created no business authority.
One executive joked:
“You needed a ballroom fight to discover procurement controls?”
Dante answered:
“Apparently.”
Then he added something else.
A vendor-credit system.
If suppliers provided legitimate complimentary promotional services, those were documented clearly rather than accepted through social pressure.
No more:
Dante will remember this.
Dante realized how many favors his name had produced without explicit request.

He could not undo all of them.
He could stop pretending silence made them neutral.
