Chapter 8 - RICHARD ALMOST GIVES DANIEL WHAT HE WANTS

Daniel came to the hospital.
That was the bold move.
Attorney present.
No fear.
He asked to see his wife.
Lewis refused pending Emily’s wishes.
Emily said no.
Then Daniel stood in the hallway ten yards from Richard.
Richard saw him.
Everything in his body moved forward.
Alan stepped between them.
“Richard.”
Daniel’s lawyer immediately raised a phone.
Recording.
There.
Emily was right.
Richard stopped.
Daniel said:
“Colonel, I know you’re upset.”
Richard’s jaw trembled.
Alan whispered:
“Don’t.”
Daniel continued:
“Emily is not well.”
Richard took one step.
Camera stayed on him.
Then he saw Daniel’s expression.
Not fear.
Expectation.
Richard stepped back.
Folded his hands behind him.
Military parade rest.
Calm.
“Detective Lewis,” he said, “I want it documented that I will not speak to Mr. Voss without counsel.”
Daniel’s face changed.
Small.
But enough.
Richard turned away.
Later, Emily cried.
“You listened.”
He looked confused.
“To you.”
She nodded.
That mattered more than revenge.
Then Lewis said:
“Daniel just lost one piece of his plan.”
May you like
“What?”
“The angry colonel.”
