Chapter 9 - THE FOLDER

The folder Dante held outside the restaurant contained no secret bomb.
It contained:
debt schedules,
cash forecasts,
bank correspondence,
equipment leases,
landlord arrears from the renovation period,
and the management-change notice requirement.
On top was one sheet.
TOTAL FUNDED AND CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS:
$4.97 million.
Rounded in conversation:
five million.
Victor already knew the company had debt.
He did not know the current total.
Julian knew almost nothing.
That was Dante’s real accusation.
Not:
I hid the debt.
May you like
But:
You wanted ownership without understanding the obligations attached to it.
