Brooke gave birth to a girl.
Healthy.
No cameras.
No Whitaker announcement.
Thomas Vale’s DNA test confirmed paternity.
99.99%.
Grant read the result through counsel.
Audrey heard later.
He did not attend the birth.
Good.
Then something strange happened.
Grant established a private education fund for the child anyway.
No Whitaker voting shares.
No claim of fatherhood.
No publicity.
Why?
Guilt.
He had spent months speaking to the unborn baby.
Touching Brooke’s stomach.
Imagining fatherhood.

Audrey asked Maya:

Then Thomas’s wife filed for divorce.
Thomas entered criminal negotiations over records obstruction and false disclosures.
Brooke faced civil claims and possible blackmail-related charges, but prosecutors distinguished between recording for self-protection and using recordings to demand money.
The $8 million demand hurt her.
Still, Walter had not paid.
Nathan faced professional discipline for his role in handling confidential materials.
Everyone got smaller.

Then Grant sent Audrey one letter.
No request to stop divorce.

I thought being betrayed would be the worst thing that could happen to me, so I betrayed you first in every way that gave me leverage.
Audrey read on.
I kept records because I wanted to win a divorce that had not happened. I lied because I wanted the option to leave without looking guilty. I loved Brooke because she believed the version of me I wanted to be.
Then:
None of that makes what you did to the photographs healthy. But I understand now that I prepared the world to interpret your reaction before I created the reason for it.
Audrey stopped.
That was accurate.

She believed the apology.
