Chapter 2 - THE WALLS GRANT COULD NOT EXPLAIN

Audrey printed everything.

Not only the anonymous photographs.

Screenshots.

Hotel charges.

Calendar overlaps.

Brooke’s social posts.

Grant’s messages that now looked different with context.

She covered the mansion walls.

Grant kissing Brooke.

Grant leaving Brooke’s building.

Grant holding the pregnant belly.

The beautiful house became an accusation.

Audrey cried while taping the final image beside their wedding portrait.

“YOU LIED TO ME!”

No one was there to hear.

Good.

Then rage took over.

She grabbed a kitchen knife.

Not for herself.

Not for Grant.

For the photographs.

She stabbed the first image.

“SEVEN MONTHS!”

The blade tore paper and struck plaster.

Another.

“IN MY HOUSE!”

She attacked the photograph of Grant kissing Brooke.

“I GAVE YOU EVERYTHING!”

Then she stopped.

Breathing hard.

Tears streaming.

The room looked insane.

That mattered.

Grant had spent months telling people Audrey was unstable.

If anyone walked in now, he would have a perfect photograph.

Audrey stared at the knife in her hand.

Then slowly set it down.

That was when fear entered.

Not fear of Grant.

Fear of the story he could tell.

She looked at her phone.

There were videos too.

Anonymous sender had included a cloud link.

Grant and Brooke walking into the Whitaker guesthouse together.

Grant kissing her in the kitchen.

Brooke laughing while Grant touched her stomach.

A conversation recorded from outside a partially open door.

Brooke:

“What happens if Audrey finds out?”

Grant:

“She won’t.”

Brooke:

“She already suspects.”

Grant:

“Then she’ll do what she always does.”

Brooke:

“What?”

Grant laughed softly.

“Overreact.”

Audrey replayed it three times.

Then another clip.

Brooke:

“And your parents?”

Grant:

“They’ll handle Audrey.”

That changed everything.

Not:

they’ll be angry.

They’ll handle Audrey.

She selected the videos.

Grant.

Patricia.

Walter.

Then hesitated.

Grant had taught her hesitation.

What if this was too dramatic?

What if she should call a lawyer first?

What if Patricia blamed her?

Audrey almost laughed.

Then pressed SEND.

At that exact moment, Grant sat at dinner with his parents.

His phone buzzed.

He opened the message.

His face turned white.

“No… no.”

Patricia’s phone buzzed.

Walter’s phone buzzed.

Grant looked at both in horror.

Patricia frowned.

“Why did Audrey send me a video?”

Walter reached for his phone.

Grant jumped from his chair.

“DON’T OPEN IT!”

Patricia froze.

Her finger hovered over the screen.

Walter looked at his son.

Not confused.

Alarmed.

May you like

Grant saw it.

And Audrey, alone in the mansion, had no idea that the video threatened something much larger than an affair.
