Chapter 8 - THE DIVORCE BEGAN ON THE BEACH
Madison filed for divorce before leaving the island.
Not because of one kiss.
Because by then the marriage itself had become evidence.
Her attorney sought preservation orders covering:
Tyler’s emails,
Hale Meridian financial records,
Sienna’s work account,
the trust-transfer drafts,
and bank communications.
Tyler fought back.
He claimed Madison had staged a threatening incident with a weapon.
The resort security report described the object accurately:
Nonfunctional film prop.
No ammunition.
No firing mechanism.
No attempt to strike anyone.
Displayed during verbal confrontation.
Madison’s lawyer did not celebrate the choice.
Mara told her:
“Don’t ever do that again.”
Madison nodded.
“I won’t.”
“Even harmless props create dangerous misunderstandings.”
“I know.”
That mattered too.
Being betrayed did not make every reaction wise.
Madison admitted that.
Tyler did not admit much.
Then Hale Meridian’s lender discovered the attempted trust financing had not been authorized.
Confidence collapsed.
The company entered restructuring.
Not because Madison destroyed it.
