Chapter 4 - VANESSA’S MANAGEMENT JOB

Daniel had created a company without telling Elena.

Mercer Domestic Ventures LLC.

Its business plan was simple.

If Daniel became acting residential manager under the postnup, the company would provide:

household staffing,

property administration,

event management,

security coordination,

vendor oversight.

All billed to the trust.

Who would run the company?

Vanessa.

Her salary:

$145,000.

Housing:

provided.

Vehicle allowance:

provided.

Bonus:

five percent of gross management fees.

Elena stared at the business plan.

“She doesn’t know how to manage a house.”

Maya shrugged.

“Neither does most of private equity.”

Elena almost smiled.

Then she saw the lender projection.

Mercer Residential Trust Management Contract — projected annual revenue $620,000.

They had borrowed against a contract that did not exist.

A contract Elena had never approved.

Why would Northbridge lend?

Because Daniel submitted a signed letter of intent.

Elena Mercer, Trustee.

The signature looked like hers.

It was not.

Or rather—

it came from an old document.

Copied.

Inserted.

Maya’s face hardened.

“That changes the category.”

Now they were not only dealing with humiliation.

They were dealing with possible fraud.
