Chapter 8 - NORTHBRIDGE WANTS ITS MONEY

Northbridge Private Credit was not a villain.
It was a lender.
That almost made things worse for Daniel.
Their attorneys reviewed the supposedly signed management letter.
Elena submitted a sworn statement:
Not mine.
Forensic analysis found the signature had been lifted from an unrelated trust document.
Northbridge froze further disbursements.
Demanded repayment.
Then sued Mercer Domestic Ventures.
Daniel claimed a former assistant assembled the package incorrectly.
The assistant, Rachel Lowe, produced emails.
Daniel:
Use Elena’s trustee signature from the 2022 packet. She’s already agreed conceptually.
Rachel:
Do we have written approval?
Daniel:
I am her husband and counsel. Proceed.
Elena read that sentence three times.
Not because she was shocked.
Because it summarized the marriage at the end.
I am her husband.
Proceed.

Permission assumed through relationship.
That was Daniel’s real mistake.
