Dr. Foster’s full report, obtained through official process, contained another note.
Three weeks before the bite:
Owner reports dog barked and snapped toward neighbor child after electronic correction. No contact. Advised immediate cessation of electronic collar use and physical management.
Claire stared.
A prior snap.
At Emma.
Diane knew.
Yet the collar stayed active.
That changed the case substantially.
Lauren argued Diane interpreted “snap” as barking and air movement.
No bite.
No injury.
Still, the vet’s instruction was explicit:
stop electronic collar use.
Diane did not.
Why?
Her text to Noah Price answered.
If I stop the system, he’ll wander into their side and they’ll think they own the whole front.
Noah replied:
Use a leash.
Diane:
I’m not standing outside with a leash every afternoon.
Noah:
Then keep him inside.
Diane did not.
Convenience.
Territorial resentment.
Impatience.
