The black cards became evidence in a stranger way.
When Elena returned to financial control, she froze every card Victor or Celeste might have accessed.
Private bank.
Corporate.
Trust.
Travel.
Expense.
Then she ordered replacements.
That was why she had so many at the gala.
They had arrived in batches.
Still bundled.
Still unused.
Maya asked:
“Why did you carry them all?”
Elena answered honestly.
“Because Victor told three donors I couldn’t afford the gala pledge.”
“That is an emotionally understandable but legally irrelevant reason.”
“I know.”
“Good.”
Then Jonathan said:
“Actually, not completely irrelevant.”
Several old cards had been used after Elena’s hospital authorization was revoked.
Charges:
$18,000 jewelry.
$26,000 resort deposit.
$44,000 private club dues.
$12,500 wine purchase.
All linked to Celeste and Victor.
Celeste claimed she thought the cards remained authorized.
Victor claimed family-office custom allowed it.
The issuer logs showed something else.
Two cards declined first.
Then Victor called pretending to be Elena’s office administrator and requested manual override.
