Chapter 6 - THE WOMAN JASON OWED MONEY TO

Police obtained a warrant for Jason’s financial records after investigators found evidence of attempted unauthorized transfers.

The motive sharpened.

Jason owed $1.3 million.

Not to a bank.

To a private investor named Cynthia Hale.

She had funded Miller Growth Ventures, Jason’s real-estate redevelopment company.

The business was failing.

Two projects stalled.

One lender pulled out.

Jason promised Cynthia repayment from “family trust liquidity.”

He did not have authority to make that promise.

Texts showed escalating pressure.

Cynthia:

You said March.

Jason:

Mom is signing this week.

Cynthia:

And if she doesn’t?

Jason:

She will.

That was not proof he planned violence.

But it proved financial urgency.

Then investigators found another message sent six minutes after Margaret refused the bank documents.

Jason to Cynthia:

She blew it up.

Cynthia:

Fix it.

Jason:

I’m trying.

Again:

Not an order.

Not a conspiracy by itself.

Cynthia later cooperated and provided records showing she believed Jason legally controlled future trust assets.

She had been misled too.

The more investigators dug, the clearer the structure became.

Jason had sold everyone a version of ownership he did not possess.

His investor.

His mother.

May you like

His sister.

Possibly himself.
