Chapter 7 - JASON SAID DANIEL PUSHED HIM TO IT
Jason’s attorney attacked Daniel.
Predictable.
Daniel had a prior employment dispute with Jason.
Bias.
Motive.
Personal history.
The defense argued Daniel interpreted an accidental wheelchair roll through the lens of old resentment.
Then the intersection camera footage arrived.
A city traffic camera captured the entire event from the side.
Margaret at the curb.
Jason leaning down.
Then both hands extending.
Forcefully.
The wheelchair launching forward.
No trip.
No stumble.
No accidental release.
The video changed the case.
But Jason still fought.
He claimed he pushed the chair to “help her cross before the light.”
The signal was red.
He claimed panic made him fail to grab it.
The video showed him stepping backward.
Then something else appeared.
Audio from the college student’s phone.
Faint.
But enhanced enough to hear Margaret screaming:
“Jason!”
And Daniel afterward:
“Tell me I didn’t just see that.”
The prosecution still had to prove intent.
Video can show motion.
Not always motive.
That was where the bank documents, financial pressure, and Margaret’s testimony mattered.
Jason had a reason to want control.
