Chapter 7 - CALEB'S ROLE

Caleb was not just the lover.
He was the planner.
After his own divorce, he became obsessed with what he called:
“controlled exits.”
He told Claire:
“Never leave without cash.”
Good advice in some circumstances.
Then:
“Move money before he knows.”
Riskier.
Then:
“Create contemporaneous notes about his behavior.”
Claire began emailing herself after arguments.
Ethan raised voice over budget.
Ethan checked location after I was late.
Ethan demanded explanation for transfer.
Some entries were accurate.
Some removed context.
One read:
Ethan threatened financial consequences.
The actual text from Ethan:
If we keep spending at this rate, we’ll have to cancel the renovation.
Not a threat.
A consequence.
Caleb advised Claire to document:
pattern of coercive financial control.
Why?
Because he believed it could strengthen her divorce position.
Maybe.
But evidence has to be honest.
