Chapter 8 - THE BOARDROOM WAS A LEGAL TRAP

Evelyn’s return to Wren Holdings six weeks after the lake was not spontaneous.
Mara planned it.
The emergency board meeting had one purpose:
Grant intended to certify a resolution transferring temporary authority over Evelyn’s shares.
Mara already had a court order preventing that.
She did not tell him immediately.
Instead, she let him put the resolution on the table.
Let Henry sign.
Let Claire attend.
Let the minutes record who supported what.
Then Evelyn walked in.
Alive.
The legal folder Mara dropped contained:
the court injunction,
notice of a special litigation committee,
preservation demands,
the boat GPS report,
and a petition seeking removal of Grant and Henry from fiduciary positions.
Grant’s face turned white because the impossible woman was alive.
But the more important thing was on paper.
He had just tried to exercise authority based on a death he knew he had helped cause.
The board suspended him immediately.
Henry too.
Claire resigned before the vote.
Margaret left the room crying.

Evelyn did not follow her.
Not yet.
