Chapter 6 - EMILY'S OTHER PAPERS

The wedding binder was not the only thing Emily found.
Inside the laundry room was a second folder.
PHOTOGRAPHY NOTES.
Andrew opened it.
One instruction read:
Avoid extended bride/groom/child combinations except required formal portrait.
Another:
Prioritize new family unit imagery without visual references to late spouse.
Another:
If child becomes emotional, remove from main ballroom and place with assigned sitter.
Andrew stared.
“Assigned sitter?”
Emily said:
“She told Mrs. Daley I might have a meltdown.”
Mrs. Daley was the lodge’s childcare attendant.
Andrew had never approved that.
Vanessa defended herself.
“Emily gets overwhelmed.”
“She’s nine.”
“She cried at the rehearsal.”
“Because you removed her mother from the ceremony.”
Vanessa’s jaw tightened.
Then Andrew found a printed email from the photographer:
Just confirming: if Emily refuses the revised family portrait plan, should I still avoid solo father-daughter images?
Vanessa’s reply:
Yes. Too much emphasis on the previous family dynamic.
Andrew stopped reading.
That line hurt more than the slap he had given Vanessa.
May you like
Previous family dynamic.
Emily was not previous.
