Chapter 7 - ANDREW CANCELS THE WEDDING
Andrew did not march into the ballroom and expose Vanessa publicly.
He wanted to.
Then looked at Emily.
Two hundred guests waited.
Emily’s cheek was still red.
She was shaking.
She did not need a spectacle.
Andrew told the coordinator:
“The wedding is canceled.”
The woman blinked.
“Canceled?”
“Yes.”
“Should we announce—”
“I’ll handle immediate family. Please tell guests there is a private emergency and the ceremony will not proceed.”
Vanessa stared.
“You cannot do this.”
Andrew looked at her.
“I just did.”
“My family flew across the country.”
“So did mine.”
“The deposits—”
“I’ll deal with them.”
“You’re throwing away our marriage over a child’s misunderstanding?”
Andrew’s face hardened.
“No.”
Then:
“I’m ending a wedding because you put your hands on my daughter and because the misunderstanding is mine. I misunderstood who you were becoming.”
Vanessa slapped the wall with her palm.
Andrew did not react.
Emily did.
