Chapter 6 - VICTOR'S DEFENSE
Victor apologized through counsel first.
Bad.
Then in person.
Worse.
He said:
“I lost control.”
Emily replied:
“You told me to bow.”
Silence.
“That wasn’t losing control. That was choosing what you wanted me to feel.”
Victor looked away.
Then:
“I was under pressure.”
“From Mom?”
“From the company.”
“Same thing.”
He hated that.
Then Victor claimed he did not know the full founder-note history until six months earlier.
Records supported that.
Lorraine had hidden much from him too.
He knew:
Margaret once worked with the family.
There was an old unresolved document.
Emily might someday inherit something.
He did not know:
the option’s possible voting impact.
Then he learned.
And instead of telling Emily, he pushed the postnup.

“If you inherited something tied to my company, it could destroy us.”
Emily laughed.
“No.”
