Evan accepted a plea.
Serious felony restraint.
Attempted extortion.
Assault.
Financial fraud-related conduct.
Conditions reflecting the money demand and confinement.
Lorraine fought longer.
She wanted trial.
Her lawyer warned the smartwatch recording was devastating.
She still wanted trial.
Why?
Because pleading meant admitting she had become the kind of mother she spent her life insisting she was not.
Then her house sold.
Not forced dramatic eviction.
Voluntary sale under debt pressure.
She moved into a smaller condo.
The private lender was paid.
Some legal obligations resolved.
The world did not end.
That fact broke something in her.
