Chapter 14 - THE SETTLEMENT HE COULD PROVE

Ethan settled.
Not because he became noble.
Because the emails destroyed his credibility on governance.
He received:
His fair share of marital accounts.
Compensation credit for proven work.
A percentage of measurable marital appreciation.
Enough money to remain wealthy.
He lost:
Whitmore executive authority.
Any claim to inherited trust assets.
Any path to voting shares through Meridian.
Meridian dissolved.
Jonathan faced bar investigation for conflict issues and questionable proxy drafting.
Natalie kept nothing from Meridian.
She returned the wedding gifts.
The pearls remained with Claire.
The Chicago townhouse remained with Claire.
The Hawaii villa remained in trust.
Ethan moved to New York.
Before leaving, he sent Claire one letter.
I did love you.
Claire believed him.
That was the tragedy.
Love had existed.
So had entitlement.

One did not erase the other.
She did not answer.
