Chapter 8 - NOAH DIDN'T KNOW

Noah Pierce knew Emily had helped.
He did not know how much.
Madison told him:
“Emily covered a few deposits.”
He thought:
ten thousand.
Maybe twenty.
When Martin handed him a cancellation accounting sheet, he saw Emily’s contracting exposure.
His face changed.
“Madison?”
She looked away.
“You told me your mom paid for the ballroom.”
“Basically.”
“What does basically mean?”
Diane intervened.
“This is not the time.”
Noah turned.
“It became the time when security walked into my reception.”
He did not leave Madison at the altar.
There was no altar left to leave.
They were married.
He did spend the wedding night in another hotel room.
Not as punishment.
May you like
Because he needed space.
That mattered more than a dramatic annulment.
