That meant Wade knew Michael was alive—or someone using Wade’s network did.

Michael identified the person who brought him to the center: Sarah Vale.

Sarah was alive too.

She lived under protection inside Canada, not from the government but through a church refugee network. She had preserved Agent Voss’s case files, including recorded meetings with Wade.

Michael gave investigators a phrase Sarah would recognize.

Before Arthur left, he placed the wooden cane beside the bed. Michael touched its worn handle.

Arthur had carved it from timber recovered after the warehouse fire.

“I thought this was all I had left of you,” Arthur said.

Michael pushed it back toward him.
