Carol said she signed as witness without seeing Michael sign.

She believed him.

The child-assault charge remained pending.

Derek was remanded after violating bail through indirect witness contact.
Michael thought the danger had finally narrowed.
Then Noah woke from a nightmare and said something new.
“Daddy, Uncle had a helper.”
Michael froze.
“Who?”
