Chapter 5 - VANESSA WASN'T JUST JEALOUS
Vanessa had discovered the affair by accident.
A hotel photo surfaced in a private employee chat.
Then she noticed something else.
Claire’s behavior around Northshore.
Meetings she should not have attended.
Late-night calls.
Confidential documents printed twice.
Vanessa worked in compliance operations.
She had no proof.
So she started documenting.
Claire thought Vanessa envied her.
That was partly true.
Vanessa resented Claire’s promotion.
Resented her arrogance.
Resented how executives protected her.
But resentment did not make the evidence false.
Vanessa said:
“I confronted you because I thought you were sleeping your way into influence.”
Claire snapped:
“And you enjoyed humiliating me.”
“Yes.”
The honesty landed hard.
Then Vanessa added:
“But I didn’t know about the money.”
Rebecca looked at her.
