Chapter 7 - THE PRODUCER
Vanessa Cole was the woman who entered the ballroom carrying the binder.
Daniel assumed she came to save the deal.
She did not.
Claire had called the number in the mistaken email.
Vanessa arrived because she realized something was terribly wrong.
She asked Daniel one question.
“Did Claire know this was a series?”
Daniel said:
“She knew we were developing something.”
Claire answered:
“No.”
Vanessa opened her binder.
“Did Robert know?”
Robert said:
“No.”
Vanessa looked at Daniel.
Her face hardened.
“You represented family participation.”
Daniel snapped:
“They participated.”
“In wedding media.”
“They agreed to interviews.”
“For what purpose?”
Daniel said nothing.
Vanessa closed the binder.
“Field House is suspending the project.”
Daniel turned white.
“You can’t do that in this room.”
Vanessa answered:
“I can do it anywhere.”
That was the moment Robert understood Claire had not destroyed the wedding because she was panicking.
Vanessa’s binder contained a rights-risk memo prepared by Field House counsel.
It had already identified Claire as a red flag.
PRIMARY PARTICIPANT RELEASE REQUIRED BEFORE SERIES SALE.
Robert:
DIRECT RELEASE OR MATERIAL LIMITATION REQUIRED.
Laura archive:
CHAIN OF TITLE UNCLEAR.
Daniel had received the memo.
He replied:
Understood. Family prefers gradual papering because wedding emotions are high.
Vanessa read that email in the ballroom and looked sick.
“Did they say that?”
Claire answered:
“No.”
Vanessa turned to Daniel.
“You used us to pressure them.”
Daniel said:
“I was trying to make this happen without everyone panicking.”
Vanessa replied:
“That’s another way to say pressure.”
The producer was not innocent.

But Daniel had also misled the company into believing delayed consent was a family preference rather than his personal strategy.
Daniel was watching a business deal collapse.
