Robert looked surprised.
Then suspicious.
Claire continued:
“I want the loan removed from my name.”

“No more accounts, cards, utilities, loans, applications, or subscriptions using my name without written permission.”
Madison whispered:

Robert said:
“You’re acting like we stole from you.”
Claire looked at him.
“Some things you did.”
He flinched.
Then Rachel turned the spreadsheet toward everyone.

“What happens to us?”
Claire looked at her mother.
“What do you mean?”
“How are we supposed to manage?”
“By changing your life.”
Linda’s face collapsed.
Claire softened slightly.
“I’ll help you make a budget.”
Robert laughed.
“Of course. You still want control.”
Claire shook her head.
“No.”
Then:
“A budget is information. You can ignore it.”
“Will you help with money?”
“No.”

Linda cried.
Madison looked uncomfortable.
