Madison responded to Claire leaving by going online.
Not names.
Vague posts.
“Some people help family just so they can control everyone.”
Then:
“Money doesn’t make you better.”
Claire saw them.
Said nothing.
Then Rachel found Madison’s payment history.
Claire’s household card funded:
Madison salon appointments,
gym membership,
ride-share,
food delivery,
clothes.
Madison had claimed these were “business expenses.”
Her social accounts did earn money.
About $1,400 to $2,300 per month on good months.
Not zero.
But she kept most of it in her own account.
She contributed almost nothing to household expenses.
Then Rachel found a transfer from Madison to Linda.

three weeks before Claire’s birthday.
Claire stared.
“Whose birthday trip?”
Madison’s birthday was four months away.
It was a deposit for a weekend resort getaway.
Linda and Madison.
Paid partly from money Madison had saved while Claire covered the household.
That was why Madison said Claire’s birthday was ruining “my night.”
She had planned a celebration with friends that evening.
At a club.
Bottle service.
Linda had helped pay deposit.
Claire’s birthday dinner was cancelled so Madison would not be late.
