Lorraine’s role became clearer through phone records.
At 10:58 p.m., Daniel called her.
Six minutes after the likely impact.

At 11:05, Lorraine left her house.
At 11:19, her car’s toll transponder placed her near Route 16.
At 11:33, she called a towing-company owner she had known for twenty years.
He did not answer.
At 11:42, she reached Daniel at Claire’s house.
Then the false confession was printed at 11:51.

That helped Claire.
But Lorraine was smart enough to say she merely wrote what Daniel told her Claire had admitted.

Then Harris found another document on Lorraine’s laptop.
A draft created before the final confession.

Claire’s stomach turned.
