Diane hired attorney Lauren Pierce after Rachel filed for a temporary protective order following the slap incident.
Lauren did not defend the birthday behavior.
She called it:
“an unacceptable emotional outburst.”
Then she separated family governance from gender prejudice.
Noah was seventeen.
Experienced around equipment.
Interested in agriculture.
Emma was three.
Objectively, Noah was a more developed candidate today.
True.
The succession memo was a planning document.
True.
No vote had occurred.
True.
Diane argued:
“I want someone who actually cares about the company.”
Rachel said:
“She’s three.”
Diane snapped:
“Exactly.”
Then the real belief came out.
“By the time she’s old enough, she’ll marry, take someone else’s name, and leave.”
Rachel stared.
