Carter Boxing Club held an ownership meeting.
Robert expected formality.
Emily arrived with Maya.
Jason arrived with Cole.
Rachel presented:
licensing documents,
consent discrepancies,
proposed management sale.
Robert slammed the table.
“This is my gym.”
Emily answered:
“No.”
Silence.
Robert stared.
She continued:
“It’s ours.”
He laughed.
“I built it.”
“Grandma saved it.”
That hurt.
True.
Then Robert said:
“You haven’t fought in four years.”
Emily replied:
“Ownership isn’t a title belt.”
Jason looked down.
Cole proposed compromise.
Emily licenses archival footage.
Mercer deal proceeds.
She receives payment.
“How much?”
Cole named $400,000.
Emily asked:
“For permanent rights?”
“Yes.”
“No.”
Robert exploded.
“You’re killing Jason’s future!”
Emily stared.
There it was again.
Everything became Jason’s future.
Even Emily’s face.
Even Emily’s past.
Even Emily’s consent.
Then Emily said:
“If his future requires my signature forged underneath it, maybe build a different future.”
