Chapter 11 - JASON READS THE CONTRACT

Jason had never read the full Mercer deal.

He said he had.

He had not.

Emily made him sit with Rachel Sloan.

Clause twelve:

exclusive image rights for eight years.

Clause fifteen:

promotional conduct obligations.

Clause eighteen:

injury-risk disclosure.

Clause twenty-one:

management option on future bouts.

Then:

parent company receives percentage of sponsorships.

Jason stared.

“How much?”

Rachel showed him.

Twenty-eight percent effective cut after management and production fees.

Jason swore.

Cole had described it as fifteen.

Not technically a lie.

Fifteen management.

Additional production fees elsewhere.

Then earn-outs favoring Robert.

Jason looked sick.

“He gets paid if I sign national?”

“Yes.”

“How much?”

“Nine hundred thousand.”

Jason stared.

Robert had told him:

family deal.

Really:

father monetizing son too.

Different method.

Same pattern.

Jason whispered:

“He did it to both of us.”

Emily answered:

“Yes.”

Then:

“You still hit me.”

Jason nodded.

“I know.”

Good.

No instant alliance.

But the hierarchy cracked.
