The estate documents were not hidden in a vault.
They were in family counsel’s files.
Claire could have asked.
She did not.
At twenty-four, she received quarterly distributions and trusted Victoria to manage the hotels.
Claire worked in graphic design.
She had no interest in operations.
Victoria encouraged that.
“You don’t need to worry about boring contracts.”
Claire believed her.
Then Daniel found an email from three years earlier.
FAMILY COUNSEL:
Claire should receive a summary of her age-25 management rights before her twenty-fourth birthday.
VICTORIA:
I’ll handle the conversation directly.
No conversation happened.
Another email one year later:
COUNSEL:
Has Claire been briefed?
VICTORIA:
Yes. She prefers not to be involved.
False.
Not forged.

Not criminal.
