Chapter 8 - THE SECURITY GUARDS

The guards were employees of an outside security company.

They believed Victoria when she said:

“She’s having an episode. Get her somewhere private.”

One guard, Marcus Reed, later said:

“Claire was struggling, but Mrs. Parker said she was intoxicated.”

Claire’s blood alcohol level was never tested.

She had consumed one glass of wine.

The second guard admitted the room was locked.

“For safety.”

Whose safety?

He had no good answer.

The security company apologized and settled Claire’s false-confinement claim for a modest amount.

Not millions.

Enough to acknowledge failure.

Both guards received retraining.

Victoria received no such easy reset.
