Chapter 4 - VICTOR CALLS SECURITY
Victor did the obvious thing first.
He called mall security.
That surprised both bodyguards.
Marcus said:
“You’re serious?”
Victor stared at him.
“About the child?”
“Yes.”
Victor’s voice went cold.
“Very.”
Security arrived.
Emma refused to leave Victor.
She clung harder.
“Mommy…”
Victor said:
“She’s missing her mother.”
Security officer Jenna Hale nodded.
“Do you know the child?”
“No.”
Then Emma looked at Victor’s watch.
Tapped it.
“Pretty.”
Victor almost smiled.
Jenna asked:
“Sir, we need your name.”
Marcus looked nervous.
Victor gave it.
Jenna’s expression changed.
She knew.
Everybody local knew.
Victor Kane.
Businessman officially.
Crime boss unofficially.
She remained professional.
Then mall cameras found Laura.
Leaving Emma.
Deliberately turning away.
Then entering the garage.
Jenna stared.
“That’s not an accident.”
Victor said nothing.
Then another camera showed Daniel Price.
Jenna asked:
“Do you know him?”
Victor’s eyes narrowed.
“Yes.”
Marcus looked at him.
Victor continued:
“He works for Elliot Voss.”
Jenna reached for her radio.
Victor said:
“Now call police.”

No hesitation.
That scared Marcus more than if Victor had handled it himself.
