Chapter 12 - THE NEW RULES

Margaret had to choose.
Sell.
Downsize.
Use savings.
Ask all children to contribute.
Refinance again.
Rachel did not decide for her.
That was deliberate.
Eventually Margaret chose a combination:
Use $18,000 of savings.
Eric repay $350 monthly.
Lauren and Derek repay $700 monthly toward the family support they had received.
Margaret cover the remaining mortgage herself.
Not legally required.
Family agreement.
Written this time.
Rachel contributed nothing to the mortgage.
Instead, she offered one specific thing:
property-tax payment once per year, directly to the county.
Fixed.
Transparent.
Optional each year.
Margaret almost refused.
Then accepted.
