Chapter 7 - WHAT RACHEL HAD PAID

Rachel built a spreadsheet.

Forty-six transfers.

Most:

$2,840.

A few higher when Margaret said taxes increased.

Total:

$134,920.

Rachel did not send it to the family.

Not yet.

She wanted context.

She found the old amortization statement from before the refinance.

If Margaret had kept the original mortgage, total payments over the same period would have been roughly:

$1,610 per month.

Meaning Rachel’s support had increased after the refinance by more than $1,200 monthly.

But Margaret never told her why.

Rachel had assumed:

insurance,

taxes,

rate adjustment.

Wrong.

The refinance extended the debt.

Pulled cash out.

Shifted family problems into the house.

And Rachel funded the new structure.

May you like

Not intentionally.

That distinction became the center of everything.
