Chapter 14 - MARGARET SELLS THE HOUSE

Nine months later, Margaret listed the house.

Not because Rachel forced her.

Because she finally admitted the mortgage was too large for a sixty-five-year-old widow who no longer needed four bedrooms.

Sale price:

$468,000.

After mortgage payoff, fees, and taxes, Margaret kept a substantial amount.

She bought a smaller townhouse in cash.

No mortgage.

No Rachel payment.

Lauren and Derek hated the sale.

The old house had been their gathering place.

Eric hated it too.

Margaret cried at closing.

Rachel did not say:

I told you so.

That was growth.

The dining table moved with Margaret.

May you like

The chandelier did not.

Rachel was glad.
